BarroNica PRODUCTS QUALIFY AS GREEN

Under the U. S. Green Building Council's "LEEDS" program, Green Building Rating System for New Construction & Major Renovations, Version 2.2, dated October, 2005, BarroNica tile products qualify for Credit Points under the following categories:

1. MR Credit 3.1: Materials Reuse: 5% (1 point)

Discussion: This credit is for the reuse of building materials to reduce the demand for new materials of a similar nature where the product used represents at least 5% of the total building cost. BarroNica offers reclaimed antique clay roof tiles as one of the many clay products offered as a roof covering. 2. MR Credit 3.2: Materials Reuse: 10% (1 point in addition to MR Credit 3.1)

Discussion: This credit is for the reuse of building materials to reduce the demand for new materials of a similar nature where the product used represents at least 10% of the total building cost. BarroNica offers reclaimed antique clay roof tiles as one of the many clay products offered as a roof covering. 3. MR Credit 6: Rapidly Renewable Materials (1 point)

Discussion: This credit is for the use of rapidly renewable building materials and products that represent at least 2.5% of the total building cost. BarroNica fires their tile with wood cultivated specifically for use in tile kilns. Presently, there are over 300,000 eucalyptus trees that have been planted that are harvested in such a way that the tree keeps growing and can be harvested again in 4-5 years. With each harvesting, the root system gets stronger and produces harvestable wood at a faster rate.
